Belgian Custard

You played me right, but set me up wrong, really thought I knew ya
I gave my nights for far too long now it's comin' back around to ya
I let my lustful eye start to dream dropped my guard and let you it
Told myself a lie and hid between two pages full of sin
so did i play too long
come on too strong
did somebody let you know
was it my last touch
that was a touch too much
or is that just how it goes
did I see romance
in your harlot's dance
a shroud behind your smile
you play your angel in white
but it ain't quite right
that ain't your real style
If I twist my knife hold your breath whisper your last words
a tongue to the right a little to the left and tease you just where it hurts
if looks could kill you'd play your hand hold your aces high
If skin could thrill I'd have you understand beauty won't get you by
leather on lace
cover your face
in your sinful disgrace
Twist and turn
rising sun
I'll watch you burn
And when I held her in the night
I thought my nightmares could be over
When she held my hand so tight
Laid her head upon my shoulder

Beautiful Crazy
03:26
|
|||
Her day starts with a coffee
And ends with a wine
Takes forever gettin' ready
So she's never on time for anything
When she gets that come-get-me look in her eyes
Well, it kinda scares me
The way that she drives me wild
And she drives me wild
Beautiful, crazy
She can't help but amaze me
The way that she dances
Ain't afraid to take chances
And wears her heart on her sleeve
Yeah, she's crazy
But her crazy's beautiful to me
She makes plans for the weekend
Can't wait to go out
Till she changes her mind
And says, "Let's stay on the couch and watch TV"
And she falls asleep
Beautiful, crazy
She can't help but amaze me
The way that she dances
Ain't afraid to take chances
And wears her heart on her sleeve
Yeah, she's crazy
But her crazy's beautiful to me
She's unpredictable, unforgettable
It's unusual, unbelievable
How I'm such a fool
Yeah, I'm such a fool for her
Beautiful, crazy
She can't help but amaze me
The way that she dances
Ain't afraid to take chances
And wears her heart on her sleeve
Yeah, she's crazy

Patchwork Heart
04:44
|
|||
Bar tender calls closing time on my patchwork heart
Stories that have pages torn she sellotapes with smiles
The cracks within our crystal glass faced away from our guests
Silver shining cutlery we turn them stain side down
Two characters in a sitcom script
written for a black and white tv set
Like the split going up her sixties skirt
That she'll pretend was meant
I'm winding up our carriage clock
Its last tick long since gone
She's darning my last birthday's socks
To keep our heating on
I'll nail and stick the skirting boards
To hide the flaking walls
I'm using last week's Sunday times for the
Fireplace draught in the hall
White washed walls for family photographs above the mantle piece
Beneath the rug chocolate tea pot hiding from the lens
We're not that scarred when covered up with camouflage bandages
Zip them up with our last smiles showing off our sewed up silk
The anthems of our catastrophe sing from the stereo
Evenings on a corner couch in the middle of the floor
Poetry reads differently from a Torah scroll
Each holy book an epitaph by my patchwork heart
Bar tender calls closing time on my patchwork heart

Candle in the Night
03:00
|
|||
There was a time when I was lost in the dark
Needed a flame to light my way
Your kinda love was the healin' kind
Now I hope that you'll stay
Until the end of time my love
And through the darkest night
After the sun goes down
Walking in candle light
With you
A tear in my eye as I kiss you farewell
But I know it's not goodbye
I'll take your hand as I whisper goodnight
I'll dry your tears when you cry
Until the end of time my love
And through the darkest night
After the sun goes down
Walking in candle light
With you
By my side
You put the love of an angel
In this lonely heart of mine
And you put a light to the candle
In my darkest night
I'll stay awake for ever
Just to see you smile
I'd give my heart my love my life
To know
That you're alright
Until the end of time my love

Silent Tears
05:55
|
|||
Morning swallows write their stories in her eyes
My heart follows hears the poetry of her mind
The dawn glistens with her smile from last night
My heart listens to her love within the light
And if she cried a thousand words
If she wanted to say nothing
If she needs me to take the hurt
I will be right here
To dry a thousand silent tears
I will never let her down
I decided made my mind up long ago
To look inside and sing my heart out let her know
It never mattered she wore her armour inside out
Or hid her laughter behind shadows of her doubt
I pray she'll let me stitch her heart tomorrow
Take yesterday's tears each in turn
Healing words for her to follow
Dare I dream of her as my only one
Incognito hides the silhouettes from her past
The blind one sees all the musings on her path
Retrospective tales line up to tell themselves
Interconnected tapestries weave their way with coloured threads

Self Inflicted Wounds
06:05
|
|||
You got a lot of nerve blaming someone else for your mistakes
You got a lot of nerve offering up your help, when you can't carry your weight
Yeah, it's a put on another late night show
Yeah, it's a put on pretending you don't know
The self inflicted wounds
You did 'em on your own
Yeah, you were first to draw the knife
Last to throw the stone
Oh, the trust in me, I have abused
Oh, take mercy on my
Self inflicted wounds
You never get away with trying to tell yourself one of your own lies
You never get away holding back those tears trying not to cry
Darling, hold on
Let me try to explain
Darling, hold on
Tryin' to own all this pain
The self inflicted wounds
I did 'em on my own
I was first to draw the knife
Last to throw the stone
Oh, your trust in me, I have abused
Oh, take mercy on my
Self inflicted wounds
I'm looking for redemption
Love's hallowed ground
Yeah, I'm praying for forgiveness
And I've searched around
But there's none to be found
Self inflicted wounds
I did 'em on my own
You were the first to draw the knife
Last to throw the stone
Oh, the trust in me, I have abused
Oh, have mercy on my
Self inflicted wounds
Oh, have mercy on my
Self inflicted wounds

How many dawns before you notice
I ain't hangin' round your door
How many pawns must you take
Before your colour starts to show
You're lyin' on silk sheets lickin' your wounds
You're dryin' your eyes with your silver spoon
You got your slaves to tend you under every moon
You'll get your just desserts can't come to soon
Your smile smells so sickly sweet
When I saw you comin' I was in too deep
You'd take my last and all for keeps
When the truth cuts you back you sit and weep
How much undeserved sympathy
Will you take before you say
You need a fresh well placed heart
To was your guilt away
All to serve your wicked heart
You write your script play all the parts
But you're daddy's little harlot after dark
You've played me before so honey don't you start
Is there a place in your agenda for the truth
Or is it just so the blind will say poor you
You play dumb swear it's just a point of view
Spit polish your halo so it shines right through
You might not like the dealer
When you sit at the poker game
Have you got the cards to see her
When you can't shift the blame
Up nor down, always around, tables turn
Secret codes, tainted notes, handwriting burns
With fraying wool, knits the fool, his tapestry
A new day, is yesterday, a cast away
Playin' your lucky numbers
Just a card from twenty one
Russian roulette torn asunder
One chamber left in the gun
Twisted laugh, paints photographs, stitch in time
Place your blame, within my pain, fault is mine
Lost my will, behind your frill, no one sees
Everlast, shards of past, no one believe

When you asked me what I was thinking did my heart say too much
With my cigarettes and whisky drinkin' I was tryin' to get over her
I was holed up in some hotel, chasin' non existent dreams
When I realised I wasn't believing, in the love I'd sworn was real
I thought I didn't want her to go but all I missed was rock n roll
I'd done myself a favour just a few weeks later start to let it show
I let her fuck with my head let her leave me for dead but I'm still hanging on
This time last year she thought she'd be pissing on my gravestone
When I hear the stage lights calling puts a fire back in my eyes
So I pack my bags for my home town to see the run down streets in the light
I knock the dust from my speakers take my guitar down from the wall
She plays like I didn't leave her and I answer the blues man's call
The seconds tick by on my wrist watch another day nearer the grave
Getting bored of history repeating sick of same shit different day
I didn't get my forever fairy tale nor my candle lit last dance
First on the list of what she shoulda done, Shoulda killed me when she had the chance

Hanging on a Heartstring
04:35
|
|||
She searched for laughter
And she played for time
Doesn't mean disaster wasn't
Just down the line
She tried to hang on
Tried to see it through
But sometimes the pain
Has got her walking out in the rain
Watching it all, slip away
Oh what's she written for tomorrow
Has she decided all is said and done
What will I wake up to tomorrow
Will I be sitting crying
Cos I can't do a single thing
Hanging on a heart string
I can only sit and write her
So many lines
Make her smile with a photograph
Only so many times
Sometimes the best intentions
Ain't gonna heal her scars
Another night she cries alone
Her lights are on but she ain't home
She draws the curtains her smile fades away
She's a picture perfect dream
A love story written for the silver screen
She follows her heart her nightmares get between
If i could be her last chapter
Her happily ever after
Could I let her be the one
If I could take the first train to her heart
If i could see love back in her eyes
Id tell her I'd never leave her
Tell her it'll be alright with time
If I could find the smile
She so often hides in the dark
Behind a lock and key
But could she smile just for me
Could I be the one to take her hurt away

Durex Lead the Way
03:08
|
|||
Sweet satisfaction with a silver bullet
Power cut and the lights turn low
She's fucking lucky i can see where to shoot it
Hit the target by braille and I'm ready to go
Cos I've been over the same ground
More times than I can count my change
I got her coming around
Touch in the dark gonna drive her insane
Taste on the tip of my tongue
Just another sordid tale to tell
Loaded trigger on my gun
Twist of my knife to get heaven from hell
A glinting red out the corner of my eye
Two shots tequila and I'll go again
A rope of silk in a neck tie
A little white line to enflame my sense
She's sayin to me honey what are you drinkin'
A shot of whisky shot of something else
Sweat in my eyes well it started stingin'
A wicked angel she was heaven sent
